Last year (or is it this year?) had to be one of the best New Year’s Eves I have been lucky enough to be apart of!
The IT Girls supporting the Overtones, at the beautiful Hurley House Hotel on NYE, was a match made in entertainment heaven and made for a wonderfully sparkling start to 2019! Sheer bliss!
For those of you who don’t know The Overtones, (shame on you if you don’t!), this wonderful group of talented men, whose glittering career is literally in full swing, had just completed a hugely successful UK tour before they took on the mantle of making the beginning of 2019 a night to remember forever. It’s safe to say that these gorgeous lads are living the dream and whether on tour or making a one-night only appearance with the Itties, they are lighting up audiences’ lives with each and every one of their show-stopping performances.
It hasn’t been all sun shine and standing ovations though for the lads. Last year, they lost one of their beloved band members, Timmy Matley, who died unexpectedly leaving the other boys reeling from shock and mourning the loss of not just a colleague but a dear friend. I can’t imagine what that would have been like for them to lose someone so close. And yet they soldiered on, touring the country and making each and every wonderful performance a tribute to their dearly departed group member. Over the past year they really have embodied that showbiz adage: “The Show Must Go On!”. I have always admired these boys and their inimitable talent but now, knowing what they’ve been through, I have a new level of respect for them and for their professionalism and strength. They are simply the best!
So back to the evening in question. As the guests entered the twinkling pavilion, DJ Tony Styles took to the decks & play some beautiful background tracks. the IT Girl dancers (Fran, Maria & Amy) were stunningly dressed from head to toe in dazzling white. Touting resplendent, bespoke, showgirl head dresses (created by the brilliant Fishhead Hats) they were so glamorous in a cheeky photo opportunity with the guests. The sparkling Ruinart Champagne was flowing, as befitted such an occasion, and everyone was feeling giddy with the expectation of the evening ahead (and the champagne) and the promise of bringing in the New Year in such a special way. The entertainment began with the beautiful Tamsin on vocals and the outstanding Kit on sax, performing as a duo and more than warming up the audience for the main attraction. This fabulous pair set the scene perfectly for what was to become the party of a lifetime.
Once mains were served, The IT girls took centre stage to perform their superb Dinner Dining Show (please feel free to contact us for more details), wowing the audience and whetting their appetites for what was to come. Leaving the room wanting more, well that’s always the best way we feel, the ladies exited making way for The Overtones to continue the festivities. Performing some all time favourite ballads that were pitch perfect, with an acoustic feel that created a magical ambience, it’s safe to say that it was well worth the wait as the boys delighted and enthralled with each and every number. Now, I know I’m not alone when I say that these smartly suited and booted gentleman are, quite simply, ‘the perfect package’ in every way. Not only do they give you spine tingling vocals, fantastic choreography and brilliant banter, but they ooze charisma and….(I’m blushing as I write this) they all have the most charming and dazzling good looks. They are slick in every sense of the word and a total dream to work with.
After dinner, the party got into full swing with The IT Girls performing a fabulous party show that was full of all the dance floor hits that are guaranteed to get every guest on the dance floor and strutting their stuff! Tamsin (our wonderful vocalists) was the perfect hostess and welcomed the boys back on stage to lead us all up to the chiming of those bells at the stroke of midnight. And the boys didn’t disappoint, taking the event to another level. I wasn’t alone believe me when I found myself repeatedly shouting #OMG #ILOVETHISSONG! With hit after hit after hit, the Overtones performed to a jam-packed dance floor, keeping the energy of the night going and building to a crescendo…
And then the time had come. The countdown to our brand New year! The boys did the honours into 2019 with pure celebrity style:
10…9…8…7…(you know how it goes)..3..2..1! And so it had arrived! The New Year! 2019!
The atmosphere of joy, happiness and love filled the room. Guests who hadn’t known one other before this evening, hugged and wished each other the best for the new year ahead. There was such a genuine feeling of good cheer and well wishing in the room that it all felt quite surreal and a little like a Richard Curtis film! Pure magic! And of course the night did not end there as we all continued to have the time of our lives dancing away to the amazing music by DJ Tony Styles into the early hours of 2019.
Perhaps it was the magical combination of this wonderful venue, Hurley House Hotel, and a truly superb, luxury entertainment line-up which made each and every moment of this evening so special. It truly was a night to remember and a party that will be talked about for many more years to come!
On a personal note, my deepest thanks go to Bassam Shlewet, the delightful owner of Hurley House for making all of this possible and for being so accommodating and kind to performers and guests alike. And huge thanks to the Overtones whose talent and style so perfectly complemented those of the IT Girls! A simple case of the ultimate-all-female-entertainment-experience meets the ultimate-all-male-group to make it an unforgettable night! And I have to say that reliving the night here makes me want to do it all over again!
After such a truly memorable start to 2019, we have a feeling that this year is going to be a lucky one!
Happy New Year everyone! We hope your year is as wonderful as our evening was!
Ps. Don’t just take my word for it
