So Tracy has asked me to write a blog about getting married!
Where on earth do I start?
I guess very briefly from the beginning!
Aston & I met 5 years ago singing and dancing on a UK tour fast forward 4 more jazz hand years to Venice where Aston got down on one knee and popped the question with a stunning Vivienne Westwood ring! How could I say no?
All up to speed and one year later – we’ve decided on the beautiful Deer Park Country House for our Wedding, it’s personal charm and simplicity really resonated with us and they are so lovely & helpful.
However arranging a Wedding… Gah don’t people do courses in that??? With spread sheets and budgets…..I mean I’d like to think I’m organised, I’d like to think I’m arty – but no I don’t have the time for handmade invites nor do I want to spend my time writing spreadsheets – especially when Aston and I for the most part are crazy busy, oh and throw into the mix that this year we bought our first house! (Impulse buy….Great timing)
Thankfully the Deer Park have it all under control – we have the seriously delicious Claire making our naked cake. We have the wonderful Poppy’s creating our romantic flowers and to top off the trio we have Venetia snapping away!
Plus DP are doing all the canapés, main meals and freshly made Wood fire pizza! Mega drool!…. and tasty treats for all the Vegans!
AND they have an eco tree house for the Wedding night so much fun!
So what’s left ah yes a dress, I tried on a fair few dresses in my time to the point where it doesn’t really phase me and yes of course I want to look like some bohemian princess sparkly goddess mermaid…..but I also want new windows for the house!
I’ve got 2 adorable flower girls to dress up, I am so excited to see their gorgeous faces on the day & my beautiful friend Becs who is flying over from Vegas to be my best girl who seriously looks stunning whatever she wears!
I’m leaving the boys to my fiancé – I don’t care if they don’t match, I don’t care if their shoes are different colours or if they don’t all have the same cuff links!
I just care that they’re there having fun and that they don’t get matching tattoos on the stag do
For me it really does come down to the fact that I want all our closest friends and family celebrating our journey so far and to give us the best & happiest send off for our future together so absolutely no point sweating the little things & spending hours looking on Instagram & Pinterest where you could literally plan your wedding a million times over!
So I’m sure there is still a tonne to do however the main things on my to do list…
- Marry Aston
- Drink bubbles
- Dance – a lot
- Make sure I thank everyone who took the time to come
- Sleep in a tree house!
As long as those things happen how bad can it be!?
