So, where is Amazing Amy these days?
Well, as the Autumn leaves are falling over the United Kingdom and temperatures are dropping #brrrr, most of us are stocking up on logs for the fire and waiting for the M&S Christmas ad to come on again (and let’s be honest it has beaten the John Lewis ad by a long shot this year!). Or perhaps we are treating ourselves to yet another cosy pashmina to keep us warm until our über arrives while thinking, “Now, I really need that winter coat I saw in Reiss” (alas your sensible inner voice pipes us, reminding you to wait until the January sales).
None of the above however will be concerning Miss Amy this Winter. Why is that you ask? Well, it’s because she’s going to be bathing in the crystal waters of the Caribbean!! Jealous? We try our best not to be because if anyone deserves it, Amy does. Miss Carey (no relation, as far as we know to Jim), is quite simply one of the most amazing, kind, free spirited girls you are ever likely to meet so we can’t begrudge her a little (or even a lot of) sunshine over the dismal winter months. The fact that this English rose has the perfect porcelain skin combined with long, vibrant, shiny red locks and an effortless beauty (no filter or slimming apps required, thank you very much!), should make us turn green with envy but she’s such a doll that we can but wish her God speed and hope she has the best time EVER!
Anyway, back to the Caribbean sunshine which Amy will be enjoying when she embarks on a luxury world voyage (an adventure of a lifetime some might say) on none other than the ship that epitomises sensational style and luxury, the Queen Mary II!
To give you a taste of what Amy has in store, accommodation wise, here’s a little brochure style peek at this most fabulous of ocean liners: Amy’s home for the next 6 months has 15 restaurants and bars, 5 swimming pools, a casino, a ballroom, a theatre, and the first planetarium at sea! Yippee! There are also kennels on board! The vessel holds 2,695 passengers since her 2016 refit/ makeover so Miss Amy definitely won’t be short of people to chat to.
But the winter coats and uber cabs are not completely on the back burner for Amy, as Queen Mary II is the only transatlantic ocean liner in service between Southampton and New York, which means that the first stop for this radiant red head, before plunging into the sparkling waters of the Caribbean, will be NYC!!! It’s just a wild guess but we think Amy’s visit to the Big Apple will involve walks in Central Park, Carrie Bradshaw Cosmos (Amy’s favourite tipple!), tickets to the hottest Broadway shows and of course shopping, shopping oh… and more shopping. Let us know if we are right Amy… We think we might be!
I must mention though that Amy will be doing some work while on this exciting voyage as part of the talented cast of professional dancers that has been handpicked for the onboard entertainment. Although she will be missed greatly amongst the IT Girl gang over the next few months, she will be in good hands, as she works with and alongside world class choreographers and a superb cast, to deliver fantastic themed variety shows including Latin, Russian, Broadway & Tango style performances.
I have performed on cruise ships in the past (The Grand & Dawn Princess) and it can at times feel very surreal. You’re part of this fabulous floating country and being ocean’s away from land, and the responsibilities that go with living on terra firma, you can feel very much detached from reality and experience a somewhat guilt-free sense of freedom. As you throw caution to the wind Amy it’s worth remembering that old ‘Vegas’ saying – what happens onboard, stays onboard!
We can’t wait for the stories, so let the fun begin!
Bon voyage beautiful Miss Carey.
We look forward to your return in May 2017!
Love from all of us at The IT Girls UK!
